Soundwave and Drift Backstory Thread
Drift had been surprised when he recognized the drone. He’d been just as surprised when Laserbeak recognized him. In his earlier days with the Decepticons, he’d been tasked with a bit of grunt work. Some of that had included feeding and taking care of Soundwave’s drones.
The little bots had always been prime targets for the Autobots and now Laserbeak was lying in a junk heap, left for scrap but still functioning. Drift knows he should just walk away. Or better yet, put her out of her misery. She was a key player for the Decepticon’s surveillance, and getting rid of that could only be good for the Autobots.
But as he reaches for his sword, his mind can only conjure fond memories of the drone. He never imagined that he’d actually have hesitations facing a con. There were never many that he considered close.
Before he can change his mind, he kneels down and starts clearing away some of the rubble. His hands rest gingerly on Laserbeak’s wings.
“Just hold still for a sec, ok?”
After a few careful tugs, the little bot is free.
Drift starts on a few basic repairs; just enough so that Laserbeak can function on her own again. He freezes suddenly, noticing for the first time that the drone’s distress signal is on.
